How many treatments will I need?
A course of acupuncture therapy can vary, depending on the depth, severity and duration of a given condition. After your initial assessment we make a plan and I present a treatment course. Pain, for example, is usually divided into 2 treatment plans: the first 5 visits to get you out of pain, the second 5 visits to make sure it doesn't come back. Conversely, fertility acupuncture is a commitment that sees you through milestone after milestone. We set the goal as healthy mom and healthy baby and then we work around a realistic schedule for you.
For management and maintenance of chronic conditions, acupuncture therapy may be part of an ongoing health plan.
Wellness and prevention acupuncture therapy may take place monthly, seasonally, or as needed.
An advantage of acupuncture is that it treats both your symptoms and the underlying causes of illness. When the cause is addressed, your entire system benefits. Additionally, symptoms you might have thought to be unrelated, can be resolved or prevented.

What can I expect?
Acupuncture involves the insertion of small, sterile, single use needles into specific acupuncture points throughout your body. The needles are about the thickness of three hairs, are used only once, and are disposed of immediately following your treatment.
You will feel a light tap when the needles are applied. After a moment, you may feel warmth, heaviness, tingling or pressure around the needle. These sensations are normal and desirable.
Acupuncture promotes relaxation. It is very common to experience a feeling of general well-being afterward.
